    Position Details

    Responsible for the operation and management of the community in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the Owners/Board of Directors for Transforming Age, federal/state/local laws and regulations, and Tranforming Age's Culture of Excellence. Partners with residents, external associations, and Board of Directors. Has full charge responsibility for the residents, team members, facilities, and the financial success and stability of the community. Serves as a member of the Transforming Age Executive Management Team (EMT).


    • Supervises all departments, maintaining full responsibility for efficient operations and compliance with the financial goals established in the approved Operating Budget
    • Selects, employs, disciplines, and discharges all personnel in accordance with administrative policy
    • Promotes development of team management skills, capabilities and sharing of best practices, encourages participation of community department managers in various initiatives and opportunities
    • Assists in development of initial draft of Operating and Capital Expenditure Budget for the community
    • Prepares initial variance analysis of Monthly Financial Statements
      Initiates, promotes and provides ongoing commitment to excellence in resident services
    • Promotes a positive and efficient work atmosphere by establishing an organization that has a formal system of accountability and clear chain of command
    • Maintains a close liaison with residents and their organizations, keeping informed at all times of their desires and requirements
    • Maintains and safeguards the property of the community in accordance with accepted policies
    • Exercises sound fiduciary responsibility while adhering strictly to the established policies and procedures of the Owners
    • Cooperates to the fullest extent possible with all municipal, county, state and federal agencies, departments, bureaus and commissions which maintain or exercise any regulatory authority over the community to include Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness policies and procedures
    • Cooperates with all professional organizations which have an interest in the medical, nursing, social service, educational and recreational aspects of the community
    • Represents the community and its organization to the community, including membership and active participation in community and professional organizations, to the extent duties at the community allow
    • Pursues a personal program of continuing education in all relevant aspects of the senior living industry as determined appropriate by management
    • Represents community and Transforming Age at meetings of the Board of Directors and its committees as required, regarding the overall operation of the community.
    • Participates in planning and implementing the marketing and sales strategies as established by marketing and management for all components of the community. 
    • Actively markets the assisted living services to esure achievement of occupancy goals established in the annual operating budget
    • Participates in the development of the annual business plan by department which supports the general long-range plan for the community; responsible for implementation and completion of the plan; assists President & CEO in presenting to the Board of Directors  periodic and annual progress updates to the plans

    Education and/or Equivalent Experience, Skills and Abilities


    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Gerontology, or other health related field
    • Minimum of five years of successful Executive Director experience preferably in a CCRC organization or leadership experience in the senior living, health care, or hospitality industries with a heavy focus on Operations
    • Must be a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator or should be in the process of completion
    • Licensed Preceptor preferred
    • Strong leadership, financial, personnel, management, marketing, interpersonal, and mentoring skills
    • Must demonstrate dedication in working with a senior population
    • Must be a person of deep moral integrity with demonstrated maturity and leadership skills
    • Must show familiarity with all areas of department operations within a senior housing community
    • Must display strong team-working skills
    • Must demonstrate positive client-service attitude
    • Must be able to speak in public to groups
    • Must display excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with staff and external constituents
